As we promised, we're keeping an eye out for 2020 Porsche 911 real-world shenanigans. And here we are, bring you a fresh adventure of the sort. This time around, we're here to showcase an acceleration sample.
The shenanigan we have here, which involves the 450 horsepower Carrera (4)S, sees the Zuffenhausen toy going from 20 to 100 mph. As such, you'll get to see the Neunelfer doing full second and third gear pulls. Note that the clip also allows us to sample the lightning-quick changes of the new eight-speed PDK transmission.

Note that the 992 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S delivers supercar performance, at least in terms of acceleration. For instance, when fitted with the optional Sport Chrono Package (think: Overboost) and PDK, the thing can cover the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.2 seconds. For the record, this is about two blinks quicker than the current car.

As far as the aural part of the adventure is concerned, the 992 is slightly louder than the car it replaces, at least as far as the in-vehicle experience is concerned. Most of the credit for this goes to the revamped sound symposer, which channels actual engine sound into the car, so we're not talking about a speaker-based system.

Even so, the voice of the 992 Carrera S isn't, by any means, the most enticing side of the sportscar. After all, we're talking about a turbocharged 3.0-liter boxer.

Fortunately, though, the Porsche naturally aspirated flat-six is here to stay. As a 992 GT3 prototypes have confirmed, the newcomer will once again mix an atmospheric boxer with a manual tranny.

PDK will obviously be an option, one aimed at those who prefer lap times over the ultimate driving experience immersion.

As for the introduction of the 992-gen Porsche 911 GT3, this might arrive in the final part of next year, as we've already seen prototypes wearing the production body.
