Nine months after it was unveiled, the facelift version of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is getting ready to wow MPV lovers on its maker's home turf, at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. To be able to rise to the occasion, the van was dressed in a new bright red color.
Other than putting on the new “outfit,” as Mercedes calls the new color, it’s unclear why the Germans chose to show the V-Class in public once again, especially given the fact it has been on sale for a while now.

Ever since its introduction in 2014, the V-Class drew in some of the youngest buyer groups of the brand, so perhaps this new public appearance has something to do with enticing more people to pay at least €36,990 for this family mover/shuttle car.

Other than the bright new color though Mercedes said nothing about additional changes.

Boasting the new design language deployed across the range, the V-Class facelift hides under its hood a number of engines, including the new-to-the-range OM 654 diesel.

This particular engine powers the V 250 d and V 300 d variants of the car, developing 190 hp and 239 hp, respectively. On the V 250 d, the engine needs 13 percent less fuel to cover the same distance compared to its predecessor.

The more powerful version, the V 300 d, comes with a top speed of 220 kph (136 mph) and an acceleration time of 7.9 seconds.

The new version of the V-Class dropped the use of a 7-speed transmission in favor of a more potent 9-speed gearbox.

The MPV is equipped with safety technologies like blind spot assist, lane keeping assist, active brake assist, and PRE-SAFE.

In the five years it has been on the market, the V-Class MPV sold over 209,000 units (including the Marco Polo variant), 64,000 of which just before the launch of the facelift in 2018.
