The entry-level model in the AMG lineup of SUV is getting a major makeover this month, as the German carmaker continues its model offensive that started in early 2019. With more power on tap, new functionalities and several design changes, the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 is here to entice fans more than ever before.
Based on the new GLC version that was shown earlier this year, the fresh GLC 43 tweaked by AMG uses the stock 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine that has been forced into developing 390 hp, which is 23 hp more than the 2016 model that precedes it.
The engine is controlled via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and is paired to the Mercedes 4MATIC four-wheel-drive system.
In this configuration, the SUV pumps out 520 Nm of torque and can reach 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and a limited top speed of 250 kph (155 mph).
The new GLC 43 is offered for both coupe and regular body styles, just like the other AMG GLC SUVs. Compared to the Benz GLC, both use the AMG-specific radiator grille, a new design for the lights, and a rear end with its round twin tailpipe finishers.
On the inside, the GLC 43 offers for the first time the carmaker’s new infotainment system, the MBUX. But even this technology is a departure from the regular Benz offering, as it comes with AMG-specific functions and displays.
“This mid-size performance SUV combines new, expressive design features with enhanced performance, the innovative MBUX infotainment system and absolute viability in everyday use,” said in a statement Tobias Moers, Mercedes-AMG chairman of the board.
"And, of course, its exceptional agility and sporty driving dynamics mean that we are able to meet our brand promise of "Driving Performance" in this segment, too."
Prices and availability for the new AMG SUV have not been announced. More details about the car can be found in the document attached below.
