Mercedes-Benz is currently in the midst of expanding its compact vehicle lineup. As you can imagine, Mercedes-AMG is also on board, and one of the Affalterbach toys that are part of the offensive is the 2020 Mercedes-AMG A35.
While the second generation of the CLA is almost ready to land, the German automaker is preparing to introduce two Mercedes-AMG versions. Obviously, the original "45" will obviously get a successor (this might receive the "50" badge) with over 400 horsepower to punch into sportscar territory.

However, there will also be a "35", which is still set to deliver hot compact performance. And we know what to expect in terms of the newcomer's tech side and that's because the 2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 has already landed.

Having debuted at the Paris Motor Show last month, the A35 is motivated by a two-liter turbo-four with 305 hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) on tap. Power is sent to all four wheels using a seven-speed dual-clutch tranny.

At least in five-door form, the "35" package can play the o to 62 mph (100 km/h) game in a brief 4.7 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).

And, for the sake of comparison, we'll once again remind you that the original A45 was only 0.1s quicker.

Returning to the Mercedes-AMG CLA35, this should make its debut next year and come to the US market as a 2020 model. And while there will also be a second-generation CLA Shooting Brake, Affalterbach versions included, this probably won't be offered in America, as it has been the case with the first model.

Until we get to feast our eyes one the newcomer, you can check out a prototype doing its thing in the spy video below. And, thanks to the soundtrack of the video, we can notice how the machine tackles the understeer tendencies of the first generation during the Nurburgring testing.
