At £20,795 on-the-road for the manual-equipped 1.0 T-GDi and front-wheel drive, the XCeed is a bit on the pricey side of wannabe crossovers. As a matter of fact, the Sportage is £125 less expensive in the United Kingdom.
First and foremost, it must be mentioned the Sportage also comes with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual at this price point. Under the hood, you’re treated to the 1.6 GDi instead of a turbocharged three-cylinder engine, but the standard equipment more than makes up with goodies such as touchscreen infotainment, air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth, and a parking camera.

For the XCeed, the trim levels start with 2 for some reason or another. These models feature 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, headlights, taillights, and fog lamps, touchscreen infotainment, keyless entry, Lane Keeping Assist, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, as well as keyless entry. Moving on to the 3, the XCeed levels up to 18-inch alloys, the 10.25-inch media system with satellite navigation, UVO Connect telematics, and much more equipment.

Pricing for the intermediate grade starts at £23,295 for the six-speed manual with the 1.0 T-GDi, and Kia also offers the 1.4 T-GDi and a seven-speed DCT as optional extras. At the top of the spectrum, the First Edition comes exclusively with the 1.4-liter engine with either of the two transmissions at £28,095 or £29,195, respectively. All in all, the South Korean interloper is rather pricey.

Arriving in British showrooms in September 2019 for the 2020 model year, the XCeed joins the Ceed five-door hatchback, Ceed Sportswagon, and ProCceed. The most beautiful of the lot is the shooting brake, which also happens to be exceptionally practical. Family-oriented customers, however, are better off choosing the station wagon because it’s a little bit roomier.

In comparison to the urban crossover, the Ceed in bone-stock flavor is a steal at £18,600 on-the-road. Those who prefer 200 horsepower in their front-wheel-drive hatchback can opt for the Ceed GT, which features the 1.6 T-GDi four-cylinder turbo engine.
