As we wait for Jeep to introduce the plug-in hybrid and all-electric Wrangler, the off-road utility vehicle enters 2020 with three new engine options. The first and foremost is the EcoDiesel V6, which will be shared with the Ram 1500 full-size pickup truck.
The 3.0-liter powerplant is available across the Unlimited range, meaning that customers can option the EcoDiesel V6 even on the entry-level Sport trim. The Pentastar V6 is now available with eTorque mild hybridization and it’s exclusive to the Sahara with the eight-speed automatic transmission.

As for the 2.0-liter Hurricane, the four-cylinder turbo is available with ESS (Electronic Start-Stop) as an option from the Sport through the Rubicon grades. Our friends at Mopar Insiders understand the Hurricane eTorque is also exclusive to the Sahara, but that’s not the end of the newities list.

The starting price for the Wrangler increases by $250 across the board, which is understandable given that 2020 is the third model year of the JL. Customers opting for the Hurricane ESS pay $1,250 less than a similar configuration for 2019 if we’re talking about the Sport and Rubicon. The pricing advantage drops to $750 in the case of the Sahara.

Interior colors for 2020 will see the replacement of Heritage Tan with Dark Saddle, and LED exterior lighting is now available for the Sport S trim level. Opting for the Advanced Safety Group also includes automatic high-beam headlight control when the Wrangler is equipped with the 8.4-inch infotainment system and satellite navigation.

Exterior colors? No fewer than 12 are offered, starting with Granite Crystal Metallic and Bright White. The remaining options are Sarge (from December 2019), Punk’n Metallic, Bikini, Hellayella, Ocean Blue, Mojito!, Sting-Gray, Billet Silver, Black, and Firecracker Red.

Last, but certainly not least, the Wrangler Black & Tan Edition is offered at $1,695 over the starting price of the Sport S trim level in both the two-door and four-door configurations. This bad boy is joined by the Altitude Sport S and Altitude Sahara for the 2020 model year.
