It's been a while since we stopped challenging each others to duels. These days, the matters can be settled with a simple race and the price for losing is paid in social media currency. Well, we are now here to check out a fight between a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.
Now, we already know what happens in most races between the two slabs of America: the snake gets ahead. And the driver of the GT500 in the piece of footage below, namely YouTuber Sinister Life, was well aware of the said result, since he had previously duked it out with such a Mopar machine (you can check out the adventure at the 6:20 point of the vid). However, he had been told that the Redeye that recently called him out for this adventure would come to the battle in factory form.
You see, the hooner behind the wheel of the Dodge claimed the car was stock, with the 17-inch wheels and the Mickey Thompson ET Street R rubber being there to improve traction.
However, once the hostilities kicked off, it became obvious that the Hellcat Redeye had been massaged, with the only question revolving around the exact mods fitted to its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI.
Now, you can check out the full clip below, which shows the discussions between the two drivers, including the Dodge guy admitting the aftermarket work, or at least some of it. Then again, you can always skip straight to the 10:25 timestamp to check out the sprinting action - please don't use such street fights as an example and head over to the track when you feel like racing.
The speeding confrontation actually involved a second Hellcat, a non-Redeye model that featured a Legmaker cold air intake, along with an 18-inch rear wheels shod in Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S rubber.
And the three muscle cars got together for a 1/8 mile drag racing session, which saw them doing battle in pairs, with the 'Stang eventually receiving compensation for using its factory Michelin tires during the hard launches (think:18:20 timestamp).
