Two new variants of the Expedition SUV were unveiled this week by Ford, just as the State Fair of Texas is kicking off in Dallas. The two new variants are the Expedition King Ranch and Expedition Platinum.
The 2020 King Ranch is a rejuvenation of a model line that first saw daylight way back in 2005 as an extension of the F-Series variant with the same name. For the 2020 model year of the Expedition, King Ranch adds several unique styling features for both the exterior and the interior.
On the outside, the SUV sports Stone Gray paint, rear bumper skid plate, trailer hitch cover, roof-rack side rails and side mirror caps. 22-inch six-spoke painted machine-finished aluminum wheels with dark tarnish-painted pockets are used to transfer the car’s power to the road.
Inside, Ebony Del Rio leather was used to cover the door trim, steering wheel and center console. The King Ranch “Running W” logo is emblazoned into the seatbacks of all three rows.
“The King Ranch name carries with it a legacy of hard work that defines the American ranching lifestyle, with the heritage and family traditions Ford Expedition represents,” said in a statement Andrew Kernahan, Expedition chief engineer.
“It’s a great addition to the lineup, growing Expedition’s appeal and personality in Texas as well as with customers across the U.S. looking for western-inspired style and timeless design.”
The Platinum gets upgraded too with the addition of 22-inch wheels and new premium finishes.
Both new Expedition models come equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of driver assistance features, power-folding, heated side-view mirrors, and continuously controlled damping.
The Blue Oval did not say when the two models will become available for order and for now has not made public pricing information for neither. Full details on the 2020 Ford Expedition and its two new variants can be found in the document below.
