2020 Corvette C8 Z06 Rendered, Looks Like a Road-Going C8.R

The press release for the 2020 C8 Chevrolet Corvette is still fresh in our inbox. And while customer deliveries for the mid-engined 'Vette aren't expected to kick off until next year, plenty of aficionados are already dreaming about the future, go-faster derivatives of the GM halo car.

Sure, paying under $60,000 for a toy that can play the 0 to 60 mph game in less than three seconds and almost packs 500 ponies is incredible. But why not thing beyond the Stingray base model?

While some believe the switch to a mid-engined architecture will lead to certain nomenclature updates, Chevy will probably remain faithful to badges such as the Z06 and the ZR1.

Well, I've brought along a rendering that portrays what could be the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - some might wish for the ZR1 badge to be used, but since this is such a long way ahead, perhaps the Z06 is a better label for this render.

Done by digital artist Jon Sibal for Superstreet Magazine, this pixel play gifts the new Corvette with plenty of updates and these are the kind of goodies that keep the eye busy. For one thing, the carbon roof does a great job at drawing attention.

For instance, the widebody take is inspired from the C8.R that's currently in development, with the racecar lending some of its fat-fender looks to the street vehicle.

Other aero elements involve the rear wing and the new chin. We musn't forget the vented hood - while the nose of the 'Vette now accommodates luggage, it wouldn't be unusual to see custom builds placing various radiators here (not the Z06, though). For instance, an example of this comes from the Ferrari 458, with this having gained radiators up front in the transition from the Italia to the Speciale.

Speaking of tuner projects based on the C8 Chevrolet Corvette, the bargain aura of the supercars means plenty of developers will get to play with the beast and I can't wait to show you the results.
