One of the most important prototypes lapping the Nurburgring in the final months of this season is the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette. Having recently landed at the infamous German circuit, the mid-engined 'Vette has been tested extensively and we are now back with a new set of spyshots.
This time around, we get to see the supercar being pushed to the limit and, as you'll notice in the mega-gallery above, the C8 did get its far share of air time. Of course, all the testing also meant that the engineers had to spend plenty of time fiddling with the car, while tire warmers also seemed to have been involved.

As for the interior, the spy material has only offered limited details so far, such as the fact that the C8 should have a flat-topped steering wheel.

More importantly, the mid-engined prototype has been spotted testing with a C7 Corvette outside the infamous German track. And since this appears to the standard Stingray incarnation of the current car, the rumors on the base-model C8 appear to have been confirmed.

To be more precise, the engine range of the 2020 model is expected to kick off with a naturally aspirated V8, which could be an evolution of the current 6.2-liter found on the Stingray, as well as on the sixth-generation Camaro SS.

The newcomer is also expected to feature an all-new twin-turbo V8, which would pack 5.5-liters of displacement and possibly come in multiple power levels.

Sure, the departure of the supercharger will bring drawbacks in terms of throttle response, drifting and soundtrack, but it might lead to superior performance, while allowing the beast to cope with the ever-tougher emission standards.

Speaking of which, forum chat also mentions a plug-in hybrid version of the mid-engined Corvette, but we'd take such rumors with a grain of salt.
