As we expected from the leaked photographs covered yesterday, the G06 will be offered with an illuminated kidney grille. The third generation of the X6 starts at $64,300 in the United States for the sDrive40i, which features a turbocharged inline-six engine with 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
Pictured in the photo gallery is the M50i xDrive, which features the N63 twin-turbo V8 with 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. That’s an impressive upgrade over the previous generation, and BMW won’t stop here. The X6 M will follow with 600 ponies, and the X6 M Competition could level up to 616 horsepower (625 PS). Regardless of engine, every G06 comes as standard with the 8HP automatic transmission from ZF Friedrichshafen.

Be it the xLine or M Sport design themes, the X6 features Dynamic Damper Control as standard. The M50i and M50d level up to the M differential lock, and further still, the coupe-styled sports activity vehicle is available with active roll stabilization, Integral Active Steering, and two-axle air suspension with automatic self-leveling function. Pretty exciting, don’t you think?

On the downside, the high center of gravity and inherent softness of a crossover translate to worse handling than other CLuster ARchitecture models such as the 5 Series, 8 Series, M5, and M8. Adding insult to injury, a vehicle with premium and luxury appointments in this particular segment tips the scales at more than two metric tonnes.

Customers going for the xDrive40i can opt for the off-road package if they’re interested in going off the beaten path. Tick this option from the list, and you’re treated to four additional driving modes in addition to many more upgrades. These modes are tailored for driving on the snow, sand, gravel, or rocks.

In the driver’s seat, the Live Cockpit with iDrive includes two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The “Hey BMW” voice assistant is one of the highlights, along with gesture control, wireless charging, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Apple CarPlay remains a subscription-based option even though Toyota offers the smartphone mirroring technology for free.
