The BMW X6 created the whole 'sports activity coupe' market, not to mention helping cement premum SUVs as the type of car to have. But the model doesn't have a monopoly on boldness, so the 2020 BMW X6 cranks it up a notch or two.
The technology package is impressive, but we're all about that styling. The new X6 doesn't have an understated bone in its body, almost like it wanted to outdo the Audi Q8. Starting at the front, we notice a super-sized grille that's differently designed to the sister X5 model.
The grille is connected in the middle where it sports a camera as well. In this Frankfurt configuration, we also have LED illumination, which is so over-the-top that it should be illegal. Blue in the headlights means an extra, extra expensive laser system supplies light for the high beams. Add the black intakes of the M50i model and you have a busy face for the X6.
Looking at this new model, we can already see the Russian Instagrammers showing off and doing reckless stuff in their thug car. The side also shows a few original touches. For example, the glass area is much smaller and the gills on the front fenders create a new crease that travels to the back.
The back is very fussy, as the trunk has a multitude of dips and undulations to draw even more attention to the narrow taillights. Oversized exhaust pipes connect directly to a 4.4-liter V8, which now has an impressive 530 horsepower and gets you to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Alternatively, you can have four turbochargers in the M50d which looks the same but takes 5.2 seconds for the sprint.
Other pieces of tech that can define this new X6 model include available active anti-roll bars and rear-wheel steering. Two types of suspension will be available for the lesser M models. Of course, you can also wait for a 600+ horsepower X6 M.
