The new generation of the BMW X5 has already taken a huge leap in the luxury department compared to its predecessor model. However, this is no ordinary model. This is the X5 M, which is into kinky stuff, like power play and domination.
You may think it's weird, what we said there. However, there's no other way to explain why a rich person would pay to have a large vehicle that scares him/her with how fast it can accelerate or go around a corner.

The X5 M has always been the sports car of SUVs, and this all-new 2020 model still promises to be a dominating force, despite the growing number of rival models. Audi just confirmed that the RS Q8 will debut by the end of the year, while the Mercedes-AMG GTE 63 has been testing for just as long as the Bavarian.

The look seems to favor the X5 M, based on the natural sporty nature of the standard X5. Sure, the Q8 is as angular as custom industrial furniture, but it doesn't handle the part. Meanwhile, the GLE is certainly luxurious, but also a bit frumpy, not to mention its V8 engine is a whole .4 of a liter smaller. Wow, that's huge!

The engine is the same since the beginning of time, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo unit, which will be offered with 625 horsepower at launch. This number isn't dramatic, only 65 HP more than it was a decade ago. But it's probably more than the Audi and AMG have and certainly more than the Porsche Cayenne. A BMW better than the Porsche rival? You don't hear that often.

The camouflage on this particular prototype is less thick than it was last week, but we already know what M decorations BMW plans to hang on this tree, thanks to some leaked photos a while back. And while it doesn't sound like a race car yet, sports exhaust should begin popping up almost immediately after the launch.
