2020 BMW M8 Coupe Rendered, Looks Muscular

There are quite a few differences between the philosophy behind the original 8 Series and the now we get nowadays and that's mainly because BMW has changed its ways. Nowadays, the German automotive producer is a huge fan of niches, while it has decided to make full use of its Motorsport division, regardless of the weight and size of the target vehicle - M8, anybody?

You see, the carmaker did consider building an M8 back in the early 90s, when the first 8er came to life, but the scale footprint and the shadow of the big coup were simply too much for the strict standards the M Division had at the time.

Fast-forward to the present time and we see the automaker preparing to introduce not just an M8 Coupe, but a whole range of such toys.

To be more precise, the M8 family will see the Coupe being joined by the Cabriolet and the Gran Coupe, with the last having already been previewed by a gorgeous concept car.

The two-door, fixed-roof model should be the first to debut, but since this won't come until next year, we've brought along a rendering to help us pass the time.

Keep in mind that the BMW M8 Coupe Competition has already leaked (check out the gallery above) and we're expecting this to pack at least 625 hp, since this is the output of the M5 Competition.

As such, the base model, if we might call the monstrous Grand Tourer so, will allow the driver to play with 600 horsepower or more.

And it's just as important that the M5 is expected to lend its intelligent AWD system to the M8 family, which means we'll once again get to see the rear-only setup at work. So, if you happen to be intro drifting, here's a serious reason to jump for joy.
