2020 BMW M8 Competition Shown in Full Frozen Blue Glory

BMW has by no means been shy when it comes to the M8, showing it as a race car, a camouflaged prototype and a four-door concept. It's also been parading up and down the autobahns and Nurburgring. But we believe these photos of a fully revealed production unit without camouflage aren't to their liking.

The images show the M8 Competition model next to an 8 Series convertible and 3 Series sedan. We also notice a couple of those information stands with specs on them, so this is all done in preparation for a debut. The Detroit Auto Show is just around the corner, and it's undoubtedly going to be the biggest event of the year, but a private showing can't be ruled out either.

Getting back to the M8, it sports a cool shade of blue that seems reminiscent of Frozen Dark Red Metallic from the M5 Launch Edition. There's also an M-specific that's covered in gloss black and carbon fiber trim.

We could spend the time to point out the carbon roof, the carbon fiber air diffuser, laser-infused headlights or the brand new 20-inch wheel design. But really, it looks exactly like a BMW M car should.

The interior is quite similar to the M5 in that it sides with luxury just as much as sportiness. You won't get the same feeling as in an Aston Martin, for example. The M8's dash is set apart from the M850i by the steering wheel with its red buttons, the new shifter, and various little carbon fiber bits.

, who scooped these photos, believes the M8 Competition boasts 620 or 625 horsepower, which would mean the regular M8 matches the M5 at 600. It's not bad, but a little less than we expected, especially considering how high the M6 climbed with its version of the 4.4-liter V8.
