If you found the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe to look amazing in the official photos released by the German carmaker earlier this summer, than you should check out how the car looks like in a new setting and with a new body color on.
Several months after the car was introduced to the public, BMW held its usual media launch for the car in Faro, Portugal. This time, it decided to bring along a shiny-white 8 Series that looks equally as exciting as the one showed before. You can check all the new photos in the gallery above.
The new 8 Series range of cars is BMW's latest and possibly largest gamble. The family was revived in summer 2018 with the introduction of the first car in the new line. Quickly after that, the 8 Series was followed by the convertible and the M8.
The Gran Coupe is the latest addition to the range and, unlike its regular counterpart, has four doors. To accommodate them, BMW lengthened the wheelbase of the car by 201 mm, and thus the Gran Coupe measures an enormous 5,082 mm in length and 1,932 mm in width.
The 8 Series Gran Coupe is officially a four-seater, but BMW fitted a third seat between the rear ones, complete with a seatbelt system, that can ensure “use on short journeys” and makes the model a sort of a 4+1 seater.
Engine wise, the car comes equipped with three engines that work together with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
The entry-level gasoline engine is fitted on the 840i and 840i xDrive and develops 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque, while the top of the range is the V8 in the M850i xDrive with 530 hp and 750 Nm of torque on tap. There’s only one diesel choice, fitted on the 840d xDrive.
The starting price for the entry level in the U.S. is $84,900.
