You can keep your affordable, practical Skoda Superb and Opel Insignia, the only wagon we want is the new BMW 3 Series Touring. Our latest spyshots clearly show that BMW hasn't lost its mojo.
Jaguar just called the XE a "luxury car," so it's only natural for the 3 Series to become less sporty. After all, that's what most of the customers want, right? Thankfully, BMW knows its Touring models are coveted by keen drivers with families.

First, let's look at the styling, which is even sportier than the F31 that's being replaced. This stems from things like the shape of the grille, the complex LED headlights and the aggressive M Sport body kit. Black roof rails are also a nice touch.

We've heard only good things about the sedan version of this car: near 50/50 weight distribution, a center of gravity that's 10mm lower and 55kg less weight on average. BMW has also gone to lengths explaining its "lift-release" dampers for the M Sport package.

Under the hood, the 3 Series will have the "most powerful four-cylinder engine ever to be fitted in a BMW series-production mode." That's what this prototype most likely has, based on the exhaust setup, and we believe the output in question is around 280-300 HP.

Of course, other engines will be offered as well, right up to the 326 HP twin-turbo diesel in the M340d and the 360 HP unit of the M340i. Of course, the most popular versions of the 3 Series Touring will still have less power, but even they will be upgraded. For example, the 218d will go from 150 to 163 HP.

Our spies were also able to snap a few shots of the cabin, which bears a resemblance to the recent Z4 leak. The digital dashboard and infotainment screen are similar, differing from other BMW models, which have two rings around the digital dials and a tablet-like position for the nav.

New gear shifter, new iDrive controller, new wheel... of course. Somewhat predictably, they've also gotten rid of the manual handbrake.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
