2020 Audi RS7 Sportback Spied Winter Testing With RS Q8

While Audi Sport has picked up the pace, it still can't keep up with AMG when it comes to launching performance cars. But in the case of the new RS7, we're happy they're taking their time because this Sportback will be a nasty surprise for the CLS III.

We're talking about the engine, but the styling isn't too bad either. Obviously, you have to be a fan of sharp lines and 3D geometric shapes to enjoy this RS model, but it's looking a fair bit sportier than the CLS 53.

The latest spyshots show the performance model undergoing its first winter testing after quite a lot of time spent at the Nurburgring. It's accompanied by two other performance Audis we're excited about. The one right behind in full camo is the RS Q8. It has the same kind of powertrain, a 4.0 TFSI.

The last one is the SQ8, which we know to have the same powertrain as the SQ7, a 4.0 TDI. That's right, a V8 diesel, complete with twin turbos and an electric supercharger. There's probably also going to be a V6 gasoline model, but we're not 100% sure.

In any case, the RS7 is going to be a super high-tech evolution of what we liked about the old model. As standard, its 4-liter will have 600 horsepower or more. So even though the 5-meter body is laden with safety gadgets, 0 to 100 km/h should take about 3.5 seconds or thereabouts.

People say that Audis don't sound cool, but this bad boy will provide endless Messerschmidt noises that are far superior to the CLS 53. The actual rivals for the RS7 are going to be the uber-expensive AMG GT 63 S four-door with its 639 PS setup (even though the E63 is probably faster) and the upcoming M8 Gran Coupe. The Performance version should have 620 or 625 HP.
