After months of looking at spy footage, Audi has finally revealed the all-new RS6 Avant. It's pretty much everything we expected from the design and performance standpoint, while still managing to excite us with its super-wagon style.
Perhaps the big news here is not that a new RS6 exists, but that it's coming to North America sometime soon while also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the RS badge. I mean, can you imagine this pulling up next to you?

"In our 25-year RS history, the Audi RS6 Avant is one of our absolute icons with a large fan community worldwide," says Oliver Hoffmann, Managing Director of Audi Sport. "For the first time we will also offer the RS 6 Avant in North America. This will open up we are entering a new market with great potential and generating further growth."

So what about the specs? Well, we had two guesses, and one of them turned out to be true: 600 PS (592-hp) and 800 Nm of torque (590 lb-ft), so about the same as the older model with the performance package. This comes from the usual 4-liter bi-turbo V8, which is now a mild hybrid just like the one in the S8 sedan. The quattro rear-biased AWD samples all this via an 8-speed Tiptronic and will get you from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds. The old one did it in 3.7 seconds, so we think the latest model could be a little heavier.

Another incremental change is the top speed. Normal, you're limited to 250 km/h (155mph), which can be lifted to 280 km/h (174 mph) with the Dynamic package or to 305 km/h (190 mph) with the new Dynamic Package Plus.

Air suspension is now standard and not only gets stiff when it sees some curves but also lowers the car by 10mm at speeds of over 120 km/h (75 mph). And like an allroad, it can also lift itself up 20mm when dealing with ramps and humps.

Optionally, Audi offers RS Sports Suspension Plus with steel springs with adaptive dampers and anti-roll stuff. All this is controlled via one of six drive modes on the steering wheel. If you'd like to hear our thoughts on its design, as well as the sharp exterior, check out our previous post.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
