Audi has unveiled the 2020 RS4 Avant, a model that features only minor changes yet should be loved by fast wagon fans. Unless we're mistaken, this 5th new RS model this year, leaving only the RS Q8.
We got new mild-hybrid 600 horsepower engines with the RS6/RS7, followed by "baby Urus" looks on the RS Q3. But this is a little more predictable, looking just like the renderings that put A6 headlights on the old RS4.

That being said, we're not displeased with the outcome, and it does look fresh from the front. Just like the normal A4 and S4, the 2020 model features a new set of more geometric headlights. The shape of the grille has been revised as well - a squashed hexagon with fresh black mesh and small intakes over the top (the Ur Quattro tribute).

Meanwhile, the rear is the same save for the taillight graphics. As for the interior, we have changes trickling down from the rest of the A4 range, meaning the new 10-inch MMI infotainment is a touchscreen, so there's a cubby space where the dial would have been. While it doesn't look that modern for a 2020MY car, the optional carbon-fiber trim and Alcantara steering wheel do lift the mood.

The engine is carried over as well, a 2.9-liter with its twin turbochargers mounted in the inner V, now shared with the Porsche Macan as well. Audi's power remains 450 HP and 600 Nm in Europe or 444-hp and 442 lb-ft in North America. Carbon brakes are optional, along with a speed boost, or Audi Sport exhaust. We'll reserve final judgment for when the drag races come out, as with the TT RS, Audi may have produced a slightly slower car.

Sales will start this December in Germany with prices starting from €81,400. This generation of the RS4 should live on for three more years, but Audi has already shown interest in making a plug-in hybrid successor.
