Besides the Q7, the A4 is the other significant debut scheduled to come out during the 3rd quarter of 2019, together with the Q5 e-tron, A7 e-tron, Q4 and RS7. It's going to be overshadowed by its colleagues, but we still got a bit excited after watching this most recent spy video our Arctic carparazzi sent us.
Why? Due to the holes in the bumper that smoke/vapor is coming out of. You see, all of the A4 facelift models were supposed to have fake exhaust pipes, pieces of plastic decorative trim. But one of these prototypes has dual cutouts that are puffing away.

What's confusing here is that at first glance, this looks like the S4 Avant, but we compared it to earlier spyshots of that (facelift) prototype and found a few key differences. So we can only presume that a few of the higher-powered models will still have exhaust tips, most likely the 3.0 TDI.

The wagon at the very end of the video is the A4 allroad, with its higher ground clearance and cladding. It's ideal for when your fleet buyer likes the A4 but isn't sold on the idea of a "normal car."

Cosmetically, this facelift should be a good one because it brings elements from the larger, newer A6 family. Both headlights and headlights have been completely revised, together with the grille and probably the interior. We say "probably" because the A4 isn't as profitable for Audi as its SUVs. On the other hand, competition in this segment is downright fierce.

Engine-wise, the European models will also rely on updated versions of the 2.0 TDI which have 12V hybrid assist for better fuel economy. The American A4 model probably doesn't require such an upgrade, and its debut will come in early 2020. Let's just hope the S4 and RS4 get more than just new lights.
