If you're looking to buy a mid-size wagon with a premium feel, there's not a lot of options offered to the average American consumer. So Volvo deserves a pat on the back for making their all-new V60 available.
If you've driven past the lot of a Volvo dealership recently, you'll know that it's filled to the brim with SUVs. Even though the Twilight sage tried to make wagons cool again, it didn't catch on.
However, the 2019 V60 is not the same thing your grandpa had. It's built to a much higher standard by the Swedish automaker and comes with all the technology you know and love from bigger models like the XC90.
Because demand will be relative low, Volvo is keeping the number of available models down to a minimum. Your basic setup is the T5 with FWD, featuring a turbocharged 2-liter Drive-E motor sending out 250 horsepower.
It's available in Momentum and R-Design trims. The T6 comes standard with AWD and a supercharger added on top of the turbo to give you 316 HP. This extra complication also means your V60 could start from $43,400 if you want the Momentum or as much as $49,400 when you step all the way up to Inscription. Prices mentioned above don't include the thousand-dollar destination charge.
From the list of standard features, we'll mention the City Safety, which can stop the car if it sees pedestrians, animals or large animals. You also get a panoramic moonroof, LED headlamps with Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer, Aluminum inlays and Volvo’s Sensus Connect touchscreen interface.
The R-Design gets a body kit, but it's milder than on the SUVs. Costing $43,900 or $48,400, depending on your engine, this trim gets gloss black window trim, mirror caps, and front grille. A metal mesh inlay is integrated into the perforated leather steering wheel with paddles shifters, Nappa leather sports seats with open grid textile and an R-Design leather wrapped gear shifter being included in the deal.
For the ultimate V60 experience, the Inscription includes driftwood inlays, four-zone electric climate control, and leather comfort seats with four-way lumbar and power cushion extensions.
