2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Offroad Goes Official At Moscow Auto Show

Running from August 29th through September 9th, the Moscow Auto Show gears up for a number of surprises. The most important comes in the form of the Renault Arkana coupe-ified crossover. As for the Volkswagen Tiguan Offroad, do you know anyone who needs an approach angle of 26 degrees in a family-oriented crossover?

Apparently the Russians do, or so Captain Obvious wishes to point out. Considering the climate of Russia, it’s no wonder more and more people jump into crossover to the detriment of passenger cars. Summer heat that melts the asphalt, spiked tires that damage the road, you can’t blame them for their choice in personal transportation.

Featuring 17-inch Tulsa alloy wheels painted in black, the Tiguan Offroad comes as standard with an R-Line spoiler integrated into the roof, black-painted mirror caps, and LED taillights. The adaptive LED headlights, meanwhile, are available as an optional extra.

Off-road bumpers are also standard, as are rubber mats beautified byOffroad lettering, aluminum pedals, and “Offroad” plates on the door sills. Customers who want more bling for their money can get it by choosing the 18-inch Sebring alloy wheels from the options list.

On the mechanical front, three powerplants are available for the time being. The 1.4 TSI comes with 150 horsepower and either the six-speed manual or six-speed DSG. Move on up to the 2.0 TDI, and you’re looking at 150 horsepower and the seven-speed DSG. The range-topping engine is the 2.0 TSI, packing 180 horsepower.

Regardless of what lurks under the hood, the Tiguan Offroad comes from the get-go with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Even though pricing isn’t available for the time being, the list of standard equipment should make even the most demanding customer out there happy.

Active Info Display digital instrument cluster, Composition Media infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rearview camera and parking sensors, power tailgate and power folding mirrors, all of them are included. But for whatever reason, keyless access is an option even in this specification of the Tiguan.

The Offroad will be manufactured alongside the rest of the Tiguan family at the Kaluga plant in Russia. At the time of writing, it’s not certain if Volkswagen will bring the Tiguan Offroad to Europe or the United States. But based on the German license plates of the pictured vehicle, wishful thinking might not be in vain.
