Just as the new line of Nissan Titan pickups was introduced without the Cummins engine, the American company is giving the Japanese something to think about: the 3 millionth unit meant for Ram was just produced and is ready to be fitted on a truck.
The car that will receive the anniversary engine is a 2019 Ram 3500 Longhorn Crew Cab Dually 4x4. The uniy is the new 6.7-liter I6 that develops 400 horsepower, which will go down in history as the first pickup truck engine to break the four-figure torque barrier (over 1,000 lb-ft of torque).

Cummins is engine supplier for a variety of truck makers, both domestic and foreign. Their partnership with Ram began in 1988, with the launch of that’s year’s Ram truck.

Together, the two brands achieved several milestones when it comes to engine capabilities. The first Cummins engine to surpass 200 hp was developed in 1996, the first to jump over the 500 lb.-ft. of torque threshold saw daylight in 2001, and the forefather of the current 6.7-liter unit was produced in 2007.

“The relationship that Ram Truck has with Cummins is one of the industry’s most enduring, and continues to raise the bar for power and durability,” said in a statement Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand.

“Both companies have benefitted from this partnership, but Ram customers truly get to enjoy the toughness and best-in-class capability that a Cummins-powered Ram Heavy Duty truck delivers.”

Headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, Cummins is presently one of the largest engine suppliers in the world. Its products – which also include filtration and power generation hardware - are to be found in 190 countries. Last year alone, the company reported sales totaling $23.77 billion.

As for the anniversary engine and the 3500 Longhorn, Ram plans to throw a big party honoring the one who will purchase it. All Ram has to do now is actually build the truck, fit the 6.7-liter in there and wait for that special someone to pay for it.
