Customers of the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS are taking delivery of the circuit special across the world - we recently showed you a Guards Red example that had landed in America. And we now have a new reason to bring the Neunelfer in the headlines, as the machine has delivered a Nurburgring lap time.
"Didn't the 991.2-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS set a Green Hell number earlier this season?" we hear you asking. Well, that number came from Porsche itself, but, this time around, we're looking at an independent test.

As the Nordschleife enthusiasts among you may have guessed by now, we're talking about a Sport Auto test here. The German magazine threw the 520 hp tool at the Ring, with the result sitting at 7:05.41.

We have to keep in mind this a real-world test, which means that the difference to the chronograph number displayed in the official lap time is normal

Of course, the official Nurburgring lap time of the 991.2 GT3 RS sits at 6:56.4. Then again, the difference between the Zuffenhausen-delivered stopwatch number and the one we have here is normal.

After all, Porsche works drivers push these cars to the absolute limit. Then there's the track time, with automaker booking the circuit for longer intervals.

Regardless of which lap time we choose to highlight, the performance of the rear-engined machine is stunning. Just think about the fact that, in this turbocharged era, this Porsche, which punches well into sub-7 territory, is animated by a 4-liter naturally aspirated motor.

Speaking of atmospheric motors, we'll remind you that the Nurburgring production car lap record now sits in the trophy cabinet of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. And the Sant'Agata Bolognese machine, which still hasn't been fully revealed, also happens to be animated by an N/A motor, albeit a much more potent 6.5-liter V12 unit.
