Porsche is almost ready to introduce the 2019 718 Boxster Spyder and the 2019 Cayman GT4, with the German engineers currently polishing the final details of the mid-engined specials. And the latest prototype sighting brings us the open-top model, as the machine has recently hit the Nurburgring in maximum attack mode.
Thanks to the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, you can see the 2019 Porsche Boxster Spyder taclking one of the most famous corners on the Green Hell, namely the Carousel.

Given the tech expectations for these two Zuffenhausen machines, the aural side of the spy clip is even more important than the visual one. And the test car we have here delivers plenty of aural thrills, allowing us to sample what should be a 911 GT3 engine.

To be more precise, the 718-badged Boxster Spyder and Cayman GT4 have been confirmed to maintain their naturally aspirated power. And while the German automotive producer hasn't delivered further details, we're expecting the middle section of the sportscas to accomodate a detuned incarnation of the 4.0-liter flat-six animating the GT Division Neunelfer.

While the motor delivers 500 hp on the rear-engined model, its output is expected to sit closer to 400 hp for the 718 twins. In the transmission department, the newcomer will once again pack a manual transmission, with Porsche keeping the PDK at bay in order to prevent cannibalization.

Since the prototype is in an uber-advanced stage, you can get a clear view of its design, from the work of art that is its canvas top to the dedicated front and rear aprons.

In case you're willing to check out the fixed-roof part of the adventure, you'll find a recent prototype sighting here.

Porsche is expected to introduce the 718 Boxster Spyder and the 718 Cayman GT4 in the following months and we'll return with more info as soon as we get out hands on it.
