2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Interior: This Is It

The brand new X5 just came out, but Mercedes really isn't going to let BMW have any fun in this segment. Its counter is about to be revealed, the second-generation GLE, and this is its interior.

We stumbled upon this little gem on the Mercedes-Fans website. However, there are no further details surrounding the circumstance they were obtained in. Identifying the dashboard is dead-easy since we've already seen partially camouflaged versions over the past few months. It can also belong to the GLS-Class, but the GLE has been seen nearly uncamouflaged, so it's closer to the debut.

What do you Benz fans think? We find it refreshingly different to all the other Mercedes models, thanks to those chunky leather-wrapped handles on the center console. It's even more rugged than the G-Class, and the screens look nicer too.

The steering wheel is pulled straight from the new CLS, so we might be dealing with one of the sportier GLE interiors. But the dash is different, thanks to displays that are set lower and square air vents.

At launch, the Alabama-made luxury SUV should have a familiar set of engines, mostly six-cylinder ones. America's mainstay is going to be the GLE 450, a direct rival to the BMW X5 xDrive40i. However, the xDrive50i's V8 will be taken on by an AMG hybrid, the GLE 53 with 435 horsepower.

Europe is going to have several diesel engines, right up to the 340 HP twin-turbo one we just checked out in the CLS. Everything will be sent out to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic.

Recent test drive events have suggested that the GLE might even have Magic Body Control, an option reserved for the fanciest of Mercedes models. Of course, it will be a very expensive option sitting above the air suspension and regular shock configuration.
