At the beginning of 2018, German carmaker Mercedes-Benz introduced the second generationn of the G-Class, its decades-long iconic off-roader. Presented as the reinvention of the nameplate, the new G-Class has already had its share of tuning packages coming from non-affiliated garages all over the world.
In the months ahead, a new such package will be launched by Delta 4X4, a German group in the business of making specialized parts for off-roading. That means everything from front bars to the wheels, meant for all sorts of car makes.

And now their sights have fallen onto the new G-Class.

For the Mercedes, Delta has envisioned a custom kit that makes modifications to the vehicle’s ride height and body lift, but also some minor styling changes.

Two body lift options are on the table, either 30 mm or 50 mm, made possible by using special Eibach springs. These combine with wheel extension arches of 80 mm that can accommodate tires sized up to 305/40R23 to create the wider, more elevated look of the model. To top it all off, a special front bar was created.

The color chosen to dress the show-and-tell model presented by Delta is the same shade of yellow used by Mercedes itself on the G-Class 4x4 Squared, built on the previous generation of the nameplate.

The changes made by Delta are of course not as extensive as the ones made by Mercedes on the Squared. On that model, modifications went much further.

The 4x4 Squared used special axles and much larger wheels linked to dual spring suspensions and shock dampers. All the extras made the car have a ground clearance of 410 mm (16.1 in), roughly the same you’d get in a Humvee.

The wide-and-tall look of it all was made meaner by the extensive styling changes, inspired from the AMG lineup.

More on the Delta4x4 project, including pricing, will be revealed at a later date.
