This is it, ladies and gents, the fastest production car on the Nurburgring! According to Lamborghini, the Super Veloce Jota will cost $517,700 from the get-go, and deliveries will commence in early 2019.
963 examples of the breed will be produced in total. Of those, 63 are the commemorative edition known as SVJ 63. Lamborghini took the decision to build these cars as a homage to the year the Sant’Agata Bolognese-automaker was founded.
The ultimate specification of the flagship supercar completed the 20.6-kilometer Nurburgring lap in a record-breaking 6 minutes and 44 seconds. For this feat, the Aventador SVJ brought 770 horsepower and 720 Nm to the table, along with a dry weight of 1,525 kilograms and a weight-to-power ratio of 1.98 kilograms for every horsepower.
Accelerating from zero to 100 kph (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, the Super Veloce Jota is capable of hitting “more than 350 kph” on full song. And that’s despite the crazy Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva 2.0 system, which provides significant downforce and an improved drag coefficient.
The prototype that broke the Nurburgring lap record was equipped with Trofeo R tires, developed specifically for track use although still street legal. As standard, on the other hand, the Aventador SVJ comes with Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber on all four corners, featuring high vertical stiffness to accommodate the car’s high downforce.
“The Aventador SVJ is an innovative car and represents the absolute pinnacle of our super sports car product range,” said Stefano Domenicali, the head honcho of the Raging Bull. “The Aventador SVJ takes another step into the future, shaping the potential for super sports car development.”
Over in Europe, the newcomer is priced at €349,116 excluding taxes. For the United Kingdom, make that £291,667. In other words, the SVJ is the most expensive Lamborghini on sale today, priced higher than the S and Huracan Performante Spyder. The exclusive nature and naturally aspirated V12 of the Aventador SVJ, however, will ensure that these babies will go up in value as time goes by.
