If you think the new Audi names are confusing, check out the 2019 Jaguar XF range. The American market lineup has been announced, featuring 20d, 25t and 30t powertrains, all of which have a 2-liter displacement.
So the next time you see "30t" on the back of an XF, know that it's rocking four cylinders. While the 25t mode produces 247-hp, the 30t makes a more respectable 296-hp, and you can even have it with the "300 Sport" treatment like the smaller XE.
Using the same engine as the base F-Type, the XF 300 Sport will do 0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds. That's 0.3s faster than the sports car. However, this applies to the XF only after you tick the $3,000 AWD option on top of the $63,810 base price.
Introduced for 2019, the Jaguar XF 300 Sport features a new grille surround, side vents, side sills, rear spoiler, rear bumper valance and available 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels finished in Dark Satin Grey. A choice of three exterior colors (Yulong White, Indus Silver and Santorini Black) are available, while 300 Sport badging is sprinkled liberally on the exterior and interior.
Also, the interior of all XF models now sports the Land Rover InControl Touch Pro infotainment with a 10-inch screen. But like most luxury automakers, Jaguar wants money for the good stuff. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are part of a phone package while Prestige models and above get Wi-Fi and Pro Services.
For 2019, only one version of the car is offered with the supercharged V6, the rest of them are after efficiency, and this Sport model 30t will achieve 21 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
“In creating the XF, as a design team we were driven by discipline, the discipline of simplicity. Every exterior line on the XF has a clear purpose – nothing is superfluous,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design. “Achieving that simplicity takes time and requires great determination; it’s all too easy to add lines to a car, but much harder to add character by leaving lines out.”
