One of the most effervescent names on the performance car scene is Hyundai, with the South Korean automaker having made sustained efforts to build a go-fast reputation over the last couple of years. The company's work has started to deliver showroom results (i30 N, anybody?) and, when it comes to the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N, we'll have plenty of assets to enjoy.
Leaving behind the less-than-sharp approach of the original (we're talking about the Turbo here), the second-generation Veloster is set to become a proper hot hatch.

The company's young N performance arm will make full use of the Veloster's asymmetrical door layout, delivering a complete package that promises to mix spicy design with driving dynamics that deserve the same adjective.

Keep in mind that the development of N cars is led by Albert Biermann. The former BMW M Division star has let it slip that the Veloster N will offer a balanced performance approach, which means this will be the kind of hot hatch that you'll be able to use on a daily basis.

The firepower will come from a turbo-four, with the 2.0-liter mill set to deliver around 275 horses. And while we're talking about a front-wheel-drive setup, we could see a playful chassis tune.

As you can see in the Nordschleife footage at the bottom of the page, the Veloster is now in its advanced development stages, with the prototype revealing plenty of production elements, from the headlights and the wheels to the shape of the front grille.

Oh, and the spy clip we have here also allows us to sample the aural side of the Veloster N - we're inviting you to be the judge of this decibel matter.

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster N will land as a global product, with the hot compact set to be introduced next year.
