2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition Now Available With Gulf Oil Racing Livery

It’s the same old story, guys! As it did from the very first model year of the second-generation GT, Ford is much obliged to offer the 2019 family in Gulf Oil racing livery. The hexagonal pattern on the seats is also inspired by the GT40 that took the overall win at Le Mans four years on the trot, featuring Ebony Alcantara upholstery.

“Many view the Gulf Oil paint scheme as the most famous in motorsports,” explains Joe Hinrichs, president of global operations at the Ford Motor Company. “The 1968 GT40 quickly became a global sensation after beating its European competitors on the track four times in a row, and in honor of the 50th anniversary of its win, we’re paying fresh tribute to the original with a new heritage limited edition.”

The Gulf Oil theme first appeared on chassis number 1075, a Ford GT40 from 1968 that achieved repeated victories in the world’s most important endurance race. In addition to the blue-and-orange paintwork, Ford brings the point home by offering the brake calipers in orange.

For the first time since it was introduced for the 2017 model year, the Heritage Edition is available with an optional package that beautifies the twin-turbocharged supercar with carbon fiber on both the inside and outside. Included in the package are the No. 9 decals located on the hood and doors. For the 2020 model year, it will be replaced by No. 6 as a tribute to the GT40 that crossed the finish line first at the 1969 edition of Le Mans.

The exposed carbon fiber on the A-pillars is complemented by 20-inch forged aluminum wheels in high-gloss dark stainless with black lug nuts, silver mirror caps, and high-gloss dark stainless trim on the instrument panel, door register bezels, and x-brace. The cabin is furthered by blue-and-orange stitching on the seats and steering wheel, as well as anodized paddle shifters.

Featuring a serialized plaque that guarantees the exclusivity of the Gulf Oil-themed Heritage Edition, the car also has the blessing of the petroleum company. “The Ford marque has played a major role in creating Gulf’s place in motoring and motorsport legend and the same is true in reverse,” says Ravi Chawla, managing director of Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd.
