Finally caught by the carparazzi in near-production flavor, the 2019 Audi A3 looks as if the German automaker took inspiration from the A1 for the newcomer. But if you take a peek at the rear end of the vehicle, you’ll notice not one, not two, but four exhaust pipes.
The bodywork, wheels, and size of the brake rotors don’t give the impression of an RS 3, which makes us believe that Audi is testing the S3. The outgoing model comes with a 2.0-liter TFSI that churns out in the ballpark of 300 horsepower, serving as the Audi equivalent to what Volkswagen offers with the Golf R.

Launched in 2012, the Typ 8V is the third generation of the premium-oriented compact hatchback that’s also available as a sedan and convertible. But for the next in line, Audi is likely to make do without the three-door body style due to poor sales figures in just about every market where it is available.

Expected to launch one year after the A3, the S3 should arrive in the United States either for the 2020 or 2021 model year. Turning our attention back to the way the car looks, did you notice the triangle-shaped LED daytime running light signature up front? Now that is something different from what Audi offers in the A8 and Q8, that’s for sure!

Now that the Illuminati have been confirmed in the car’s headlights, we can move on to the interior. Nothing much will change inside the A3 compared to the current generation, though it’s certain the second version of the Virtual Cockpit display is in the pipeline as an optional extra.

The form factor, side mirror caps, and window line are nearly identical between the two generations, with the mention that the roofline slopes downwards at a sharper angle than before. Dynamic styling for sure, but then again, what did you expect from the automaker who lives and dies by Vorsprung Durch Technik?

The A3 has always been the type of car that puts a bigger emphasis on technology over emotion. And that's perfectly fine in this day and age, more so from a German automaker.
