2019 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Driven Hard On The Nurburgring In Newest Spy Photos

More so than the DB11, the all-new V8 Vantage is crucial for Aston Martin’s future. The sports car of the range and the cheapest model in the lineup, the V8-powered Vantage is all but confirmed to offer a good ol’ six-speed manual transmission.

Dr. Andy Palmer, the chief executive officer of the Gaydon-based automaker, repeated time and time that Aston Martin won’t kill off the stick shift in favor of zero to 60 times. Beyond the three-pedal setup, the next-generation Vantage has been described as being the “best-handling Aston Martin to date.” Those are the words of Matthew Becker, former chassis expert at Lotus and the current head honcho of vehicle attribute engineering at Aston Martin.

The newcomer follows in the footsteps of the current Vantage, who was introduced in 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show and improved over the years with a bigger V8 engine, V12 power, better transmission, and various motorsport-oriented models. It’s only natural to expect the 2019 Aston Martin V8 Vantage to usher in the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 from the DB11 at some point in the future, but in the first instance, Mercedes power will suffice.

Displacing 4.0 liters, augmented by two turbochargers, and related to the M178 V8 in the Mercedes-AMG GT, the force-fed plant benefits from a unique exhaust tone in this application. Bearing in mind the engine is good from 467 to 612 metric ponies and the current Vantage’s 4.7-liter N/A V8 develops 437 PS in the S variant, there’s a wide range of tunes Aston Martin can employ for the all-new model. The output will be lower than that of the DB11 V8, which is rated at 510 PS (503 hp) and 675 Nm (498 pound-feet) of torque.

Speaking of the DB11, it’s easy to observe the styling of the 2019 Aston Martin Vantage is different. Edgier and more dramatic, the exterior design will be offset by an interior akin to the grand touring-oriented bigger brother. The fixed-head coupe is confirmed to be revealed later in 2017, while the Vantage Roadster is reserved for the second part of 2018, after the DB11 Volante.
