Three weeks after the model was revealed, Volkswagen announced that the T-Roc crossover is already available for order. Prices start at €20,390, but things can quickly get out of hand with powerful engines or expensive options.
The standard T-Roc is not exactly an eye-catching car. It gets steel wheels, regular halogen lights and is only available with the 1.0 TSI engine making 115 HP, matched to a 6-speed manual. But because of recent Euro NCAP regulations, Volkswagen has deemed it fit to install both Front Assist and Lane Assist as standard. So this is the safest small crossover in standard form right now.

Moving to the T-Roc Style trim level means you'll have to pay at least €22,590 with the same engine mentioned above. The only other powertrain option is the 2.0 TDI with standard 7-speed DSG and 4Motion. You guessed it, that one is expensive: €31,825.

On average, the Sport trim level is only about €270 more expensive. It comes with slightly lower suspension and 17-inch alloys. The other difference is the availability of a 2.0 TSI. It too is only available with DSG and 4Motion. However, the gasoline engine makes 40 HP more and will set you back €30,800. But don't expect it to sound like a hot hatch.

As far as we know, this is the only Volkswagen with multiple color combinations for the roof and body. They range in price from €730 to €1,030.

To see how the T-Roc is priced, we have to look at two crossovers from what's not the world's biggest automaker, Renault-Nissan. Both the Juke and the Captur start from €15,990. Admittedly, they are a little bit smaller on the inside and rarely come with all-wheel drive. If you're looking for a rugged yet coupe-like and rides like a compact, there's also Toyota's C-HR Hybrid from €21,990.
