Triumph launched the Bonneville Bobber in 2016 wanting to give fans a taste of the original post-war Bobber movement of stripped back, hardtail motorcycles tuned for maximum performance. It did that very well and, for 2018, the company wants to take that even further through the new Bobber Black.
Yes, you’ve guessed, the new Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black is all about macho style and darkness, thanks to a host of fully blacked out details and finishes. You can count on black exhaust, brake pedal and footrests, gear lever and linkage, brake and clutch levers, black bars and risers, seat pan, engine covers, headlight rim, and even wheel hubs.
Believe it or not, but the Bobber Black can be had in two color setups, namely classic gloss Jet Black or the stylish, more modern, Matte Jet Black.
Most of the other elements are carried over, but the Bobber Black do comes with some improvements. The most important one being a new chunky 47mm Showa cartridge front fork, offering 90 mm of front wheel travel for improved feel and feedback. Speaking of wheels, the front one is a new fat 16-inch one with classic wire spokes.
Power comes from the 1200cc 77 horsepower and 106 Nm High Torque engine from before, and everything is kept in check by standard ABS along with a category-leading twin Brembo two-piston calipers setup on the front a single disc with a single piston in the back.
A single button easy-to-use cruise control is offered as standard along with ride-by-wire throttle, two riding modes, switchable traction control, torque assist clutch and an immobilizer system with the transponder being incorporated in the Triumph branded key.
Another cool new feature is the headlight, which now uses full LED technology along with Triumph’s signature LD daytime running light. Do keep in mind that the latter’s availability is governed by local legislation, so you may not get it.
Last but not least, the 2018 Bonneville Bobber Black can be further customized through one of the over 120 Triumph accessories for added style, comfort enhancement or more performance.
