The upcoming Supra is expected to come to market as a 2018 model, which would have one expect it in Toyota showrooms starting the second half of next year. Until then, Toyota engineers are putting the prototype through all the possible scenarios, and this time, it is being driven in an urban surround.
Our friends at SB-Medien have spotted the new Supra somewhere in Germany. This time, the prototype was driving through a city, so the engineers were probably trying to see how it will be to drive the future sports car through a town.
After all, most city residents that have a single car might do a lot of their driving in urban areas, so it is important for the next Supra to be easy to handle in this environment.
As you can observe, the vehicle is covered in camouflage from top to bottom. While the front lights might be close to production specification, the rear units are definitely mock-ups.
Interestingly, they feature LEDs, but the way they are integrated into the rear of the vehicle makes it evident that the production car will not have taillights like the ones in the picture.
From the first moment you look at the new Supra, you can see it is a sports car. There is no doubt about it. From certain angles, this prototype makes us think of the Nissan 370Z Coupe, and not about the GT86, although the rear bumper and the rear hatch inspire other memories.
Unfortunately, the interior of the upcoming Supra is not visible in the photos found in the gallery. We cannot spot any particular details about the next sports car from the Japanese brand, which is being developed with their partners at BMW. The only thing we notice is what appears to be an infotainment screen in the middle of the dash, but it might also be used to display sensor readings.
