Going on sale in the fourth quarter of the year, the 2018 Ram Power Mojave Sand is made to draw attention like a magnet. A limited edition that’s more of a package when you think about it, the Mojave Sand exterior color and black wheels with eight lug nuts come in at $795.
Available in Crew Cab 4x4 flavor from the fourth quarter of 2018, the Power Wagon Mojave Sand starts at $54,830 plus the $1,695 destination charge. Limited to 1,500 examples, the full-size pickup “will appeal to enthusiasts looking for a truck that stands above the crowd.”

Waxing lyrical about the newcomer, Ram head of brand Jim Morrison continues: “Power Wagon is extraordinarily competent off-road and provides both the towing and payload required in a heavy-duty truck.” Being based on the 2500 and coming with the 410-horsepower version of the 6.4-liter HEMI V8, the Mojave Sand is both show and go.

In addition to the 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires and 12,000-pound winch, the Power Wagon features more than two inches of lift, 14.3 inches of ground clearance, an electric disconnecting front sway bar, and locking differentials at both ends. As far as creature comforts are concerned, the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment is complemented by the Heavy Duty Luxury Group, a package that adds overhead console power heated/fold-away mirrors, universal garage door opener, and LED lighting for the bed.

On the other hand, it must be highlighted that the Power Wagon is somewhat on the expensive side of heavy-duty pickup trucks, more so when compared with the 2500. From the get-go, the entry point in the Ram HD family is $32,645 not including the destination charge. But when you take all the additionals of the Power Wagon into consideration, the pricing starts to make sense.

While on the subject of Ram HD, the 2020 model year will see the lineup go through an overhaul from the ground up. The most anticipated upgrade is the engine range, which is supposed to get a 7.0-liter V8 with tons of torque on tap. Styling-wise, the bodywork shouldn’t differ too much from the 2019 Ram 1500.
