Along with a video that walks us through a part of Porsche’s heritage museum, the German automaker released two teasers for the all-new Cayenne. Referred to as the E3, the mid-size luxo-sport utility vehicle will be made available in Turbo S flavor from the get-go. Hidden in the description of the teaser clip, the fuel consumption data for the mighty Turbo S. The information, however, is for the current-gen Cayenne Turbo S.

The design sketch for the 2018 Cayenne is pretty straightforward, but the second teaser is harder to decipher. The teaser in question, announcing the world premiere of the high-riding gentle giant, shows the 959 Paris-Dakar rally car as the mirror image of the new Cayenne. Without a shadow of a doubt, this detail is a promise for performance and off-road capability.

Underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, the 2018 Porsche Cayenne won’t stop at the Turbo S. Only recently, the automaker confirmed that the Turbo S E-Hybrid is in the pipeline, boasting pretty much the same plug-in hybrid powertrain found in the range-topping Panamera. In numbers, make that 680 metric ponies and 850 Nm (626 pound-feet) of torque.

Diesel-loving Europe will get what it wants, but chances are the E3 will be the last generation of the Cayenne powered by Satan’s fuel of choice. Slightly lighter than the previous model, the newcomer will rely on an eight-speed automatic transmission of the ZF 8HP variety, regardless of engine option.

It is worth highlighting that, as the Turbo S E-Hybrid, the Cayenne will be more powerful than the Bentley Bentayga W12. And most probably, a little more powerful than the V8-engined 2018 Lamborghini Urus as well.
