2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Spotted Blitzing the Autobahn in the Rain

We've been keeping a close eye on the 991.2 Porsche 911 GT2 RS ever since the first test mules showed up wearing a modded Turbo S body. Now that Porsche has introduced King Kong at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, we're still waiting for the automaker to drop the Nurburgring lap time of the beast.
And, since the anticipation has started making us dizzy, we've decided to surf Instagram to help pass the time. And this is how we came across delicious... 911 GT2 RS photos such as the one we're here to show you.

The photo sees the Rennsport Neunelfer doing its thing on the German Autobahn, with the Porscha appearing to ignore the rain.

It's enough to remember that the GT2 RS recipe mixes no less than 700 ponies with rear-wheel-drive to understand why this wet driving photo is so intense.

Returning to the Green Hell matter mentioned in the intro, it's obvious that the rear-engined animal is a member of the sub-7 club.

In fact, the rumor mill even talks about the Widowmaker having set a new production car lap record. Such a feat would require the Zuffenhausen machine to beat the 6:52 time that was set by the Lamborghini Huracan Performante earlier this year.

And if we are to look at the more or less official clues, the potential is clearly there. For one thing, Mark Webber has let it slip that he has managed to hit 208 mph (that's 335 km/h) on the main straight of the infamous German track.

We'll remind you that Porsche is currently battling Mercedes-AMG for Nordschleife supremacy. And Affalterbach has an ace up its (cylinder) sleeve, namely the Mercedes-AMG GT prototype we recently spied.

Regardless of whether this will land as a street incarnation of the GT4 racecar or as the Black Series, the polymer rear window-gifted machine should give the Porscha a hard time on the track.

Great job on capturing the #gt2rs in the rain on the autobahn #porsche
