2018 Nissan 370Z Revealed Ahead Of Frankfurt Motor Show Debut

The latest evolution of the Z-car isn’t all that new, with the 370Z having made its premiere in 2008. So many years later, Nissan freshens up the sports car with better visuals and a new clutch.

Following the reveal of the 2018 Nissan 370Z for the U.S. market, the Euro-spec model will be shown to the public this coming September at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Among the visual upgrades, it’s easy to spot the black finish of the door handles and rear bumper fascia. Dark-tinted headlamps and rear combination lights are also featured, drawing inspiration from the Nismo.

New for 2018 are 19-inch alloy wheels, which look the part especially in combination with the new Red Metallic exterior color. Under the skin, arguably the biggest improvement is the clutch. Developed by EXEDY, the clutch promises reduced pedal effort and superior gear change precision.

Stepping inside the European 370Z reveals the NissanConnect Premium infotainment system, which relies on a 7.0-inch touchscreen. The system comes loaded with satellite navigation, rearview camera, and a DVD player. As for the business end of the 2018 model year, the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 soldiers on unchanged, priding itself on 328 PS (324 horsepower).

“For nearly half a century, Nissan’s Z-car series has built a cult following with sports car fans with a passion for performance and quality,”
declared Ryan Gains, the chief marketing manager of C-segment and sports cars at Nissan’s European division. “The Nissan 370Z MY18 remains true to this legacy, further elevating driving dynamics and classic design to new levels,” he added.

Curiously enough, the 370Z Roadster and 370Z Nismo remain on sale in Europe without the 2018 model year upgrades of the fixed-head coupe. It’s curious why Nissan didn’t refresh those two as well, but then again, don’t forget that word on the street is the Japanese carmaker is currently developing a successor. The rumor mill suggests the 390Z will make an appearance as a pre-production concept at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.
