Missed your chance at dropping a ridiculous amount of green dollar bills on the 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet? Fret not, because Daimler AG offers a white-painted G650 at auction, at the Bonhams Zaute sale scheduled for October.
Don’t go thinking the three-pointed star will be pocketing the money. As per the auction house, all benefits from the sale will be “donated to the charity Laureus Sport for Good.” The foundation is focused on young people with a thing for sports, and there you have it. Whoever bids the most on the G650 Landaulet, the cash will help those who need it most: the children.

Arguably the most luxurious G-Class derivative of the W463 family, the G650 Landaulet is a combination of G63 6x6 and G500 4x4 Squared. With a little bit of ultra-luxury touches for good measure, that is. And as the name implies, the gentle giant benefits from an electrically foldable soft top and the most sumptuous rear-seat accommodation you’ll ever find in any G-Class.

The imposing presence is augmented by the fury hiding under the hood, which is a twin-turbo V12 that displaces 6.0 liters. With 630 metric ponies (463 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 pound-feet) of torque, it’s no wonder the G650 Landaulet drinks fuel like there’s no tomorrow. The monstrosity propelling the off-road luxobarge also happens to provide plenty of get-up-and-go, though you won’t see the massive G650 Landaulet win drag races against supercars.

What makes this Gelandewagen superior to most other automobiles entitled to wear license plates is its capability off the beaten track. Thanks to 450 millimeters (17.7 inches) of ground clearance, 325/55 22" tires, three differential locks, 4WD high and low, the G650 Landaulet has the skills to pay the bills even when compared to icons such as the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Next year, Mercedes-Benz will replace the W463 with an all-new generation. Considering the developments within Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach, you can bet a lot more crazy G-Class derivatives are in the pipeline.

LATER EDIT

The G650 Landaulet in question sold for €1,200,000, which is $1.4 million at current exchange rates.
