Mercedes-Benz is a master of the teasing game these days, with the carmaker's spyshot strategy seeing its test cars keeping us on our toes. And while we kicked off this week by showing you a less camouflaged 2018 E-Class Coupe prototype, those pics didn't include the face of the elegant two-door model.
Well, we're back to fill that gap, with the spy photos we have here giving us a clear view of the Coup's front fascia. In fact, the light camo on the headlights is the only element that keeps us front getting a 100 percent accurate view of the upcoming E-Class Coupe's face.

And the approach seems to be the same for the rest of the Merc's body - betting on the rear apron being the next one to be stripped of the psychedelic wrap would probably be a save move.

Compared to the now-old E-Class Coupe and even to the fresh C-Class Coupe, the two-door incarnation of the W213 E-Class sports a lower roofline and a more dynamic rear end.

And with the new platform introduced by the 2017 E-Class sedan providing all the right assets (the old E Coupe and Cabriolet used a stretched C-Class architecture), we seem to have a winning Grand Tourer recipe on our hands.

While we're still wondering what the German engineers were up to with that understeer-heavy 2018 E-Class Coupe prototype we spotted on the Nurburgring a while back, the tech perspective for this two-door looks brilliant.

Those seeking premium comfort should be thrilled to find out Mercedes-Benz is making its straight-six return next year and we all know how smooth this architecture can be.

Then there's the Afflaterbach side of the adventure, as the new generation should finally see the two-door models getting the AMG badge. At least when it comes to the almost-ready E63 Sedan, the standard model will pack 563 hp (571 PS) and 553 lb-ft of twist (750 Nm), while the E63 S will bring 604 hp (612 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) to the table.

Once the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe makes its debut next year, expect the just-as-2018 E-Class Cabriolet to follow shortly. And since reviewing the old open-air E-Class was one of the smoothest experiences of our driving lives, we can't wait to see what the German are cooking for the W213-gen Cabriolet, but that's another story for another time.
