When we first noticed how the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class prototypes are stripping their camo one piece at a time, we couldn't quite believe the German automaker was delivering such an elaborate striptease strategy.
Well, a few spy clips later, it became obvious that was actually the name of the game. So, having understood that we'll get to see tiny bits of the luxury sedan, it's time to move on to the latest episode of the saga, one that has to do with the headlights.
And while we've shown you the front light clusters of the revamped S before, this time the spied prototype fully reveals them - you'll find an image comparing the (still-camouflaged) headlights of the facelifted model with those of the S-Class you can currently find in MB showrooms.
While the design simply seems more fluid, notice that the dual-lamp setup is gone - the lavish four-door now packs a single main lap, with the second lamp having been replaced by three smaller LED lamps using an almost-vertical layout. Then we have the LED stripe close to the radiator grille, which divides into three separate lines as it goes closer to the front apron.
The lighting story of the limousine's mid-cycle revamp is much more complex. It all has to do with the Multibeam LED headlights fitted to the 2017 E-Class. Until the press release for the S facelifts lets us know if there have been any changes in the migration process, here's a detailed story on the new E-Class' headlights.
In case you're curious about the changes the refresh will bring to the cabin of the Mercedes S-Class, you can check out some of our previous spyshot episodes that show the interior.
As anybody following our 2018 S-Class Facelift stories can guess by the luxury sedan's frequent headline presence, the new S-Class is almost ready to be taken out of the oven, with the unveiling set to take place next year.
