Mercedes-AMG has already revealed the all-new E63 sedan, but the Coupe model still awaits its presentation. It will happen shortly after the launch of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe, which is the model that is used as a base for the performance variant.

Just like other AMGs, the E63 Coupe will be offered in a “standard,” and an “S” version, both with the AMG-tuned V8 engine. The Sedan model has two power levels, 571 PS and 612 PS, which are expected to be featured on the Coupe as well. Both versions of the engine come with the AMG Speedshift MCT 9, a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The gearbox itself is an impressive feat of engineering, which we featured in a separate article. Coming back to the Mercedes-AMG E63 Coupe, it is expected to be available with the company’s all-wheel-drive solution, 4Matic.

In the case of the Mercedes-AMG E63, the system was dubbed 4Matic+, which is a change that was made to underline the modifications that have been made to the system. The new E-Class Coupe is expected to debut next year, so we might have to wait a bit more until Mercedes-AMG reveals the performance model.

When they do, it should become an attractive competitor of the BMW M6 Coupe, which will be its direct rival. Mercedes-AMG might up the ante with a Black Series variant, but that has yet to be confirmed from official sources.

We remind you that the next E-Class Coupe will be built on the platform of the Sedan model (W213 in Mercedes-Benz talk) for the first time since the C124, which was constructed on the W124 platform. The successors of that model were mostly based on the C-Class of their times, and they were sold as the CLK.

The ongoing E-Class Coupe (C207) did the same component sharing with its smaller brother, but the new model will mark a significant change, which could be met with all-wheel-drive, complete with the Drift Mode that is available exclusively to the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S model.
