$460,247, €313,666, or £251,462 before options. That’s how much it costs to pose in style behind the wheel of the newest raging bull from Sant’Agata Bolognese. Meet the Lamborghini Aventador S without a fixed roof, with the Roadster planned to make its debut next week at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
A unique appearance in this segment of mid-engine exotica, the Aventador S Roadster prides itself on two removable roof panels. Made from carbon fiber and sporting a matte finish, the panels can be optionally had in high-gloss black, visible carbon fiber, and endless Ad Personam possibilities. According to Lamborghini, the fastening system is relatively easy to use, and there’s even room to store the panels in the front trunk of the 6.5-liter V12 bruiser.
Speaking of the business end of the Aventador S Roadster, the glass cover lets the owner peek at 740 PS (730 horsepower) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of naturally aspirated fury. Like the coupe, the engine is connected to a 7-speed single-clutch tranny, which can shift gear in a blistering 50 milliseconds.
Carbon ceramic brakes come standard, as do Pirelli P Zero rubber and Apple CarPlay. What about the Blu Aegir exterior color? I’m afraid that’s part of the Ad Personam palette, which makes it wildly expensive. On second thought, who the hell cares how much it costs? For crying out loud, it’s a Lamborghini with a V12 and roughly 93 million miles of blue sky above the driver’s head!
The vehicle pictured in the gallery is, in fact, bristling with Ad Personam goodies. The Blu Delphinus upholstery with Bianco Polar accents, S-trim stripes on the seats, doors and dashboard, and floor mats are all from the said catalog. Similar to the fixed-head Aventador S, the Roadster adopts four-wheel active suspension, four-wheel steering, and a lot of performance.
Tipping the scales at 50 kilograms more than the coupe, the roofless supercar hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.0 seconds, on to a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). If you’re quick about it and place an order next week, you will be lucky to get your Aventador S Roadster in February 2018, if not later.
