The subcompact hatchback is an essential car in the Blue Oval’s portfolio, so Ford will take advantage of the crowd of journalists and other media professionals to present its smart mobility strategy, as well as other technologies and developments. According to Automotive News, Ford will also introduce new commercial vehicles during the same event.

The new Ford Fiesta will bring a breath of fresh air for the Michigan-born brand, as the ongoing model was one of the oldest in the segment. Even if the Fiesta has been facelifted during the current generation’s life cycle, that does not stop the platform itself for being older than most of its competitors.

With the 2018 Fiesta, Ford has implemented a new platform, as well as more efficient engines and more safety equipment. The interior will be overhauled, and the level of technological equipment will be increased to be on par or above its competitors. The Fiesta is Ford’s best-selling model in Europe, so this model is a huge deal for the automaker.

The Fiesta nameplate will reach its seventh generation next week, and Ford is reportedly keeping the global “B platform” for this model, but its underpinnings have been significantly modified and improved to suit the tastes of consumers, as well as other market demands.

Unlike some of its competitors, Ford has kept the three-door body in the Fiesta range. That kind of body style was eliminated by some brands because its sales did not match the development costs associated with it, but it appears that they are worth it for the Blue Oval.

Ford will offer the 2018 Fiesta on sale sometime in 2017, after multiple presences at various motor-show events. The Blue Oval builds the Fiesta in several countries, including Mexico, Germany, Vietnam, and India. American customers get the Fiesta models that have been constructed in Cuautitlan, Mexico, while their European equivalents receive German-built Ford Fiesta models.
