2018 BMW X4 in Winter Land Photoshoot Before the Debut in Geneva

One of the top new models to be presented by German automaker BMW at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show is the new X4. After releasing the full details of the upcoming model last month, on Valentine’s Day, BMW now tries to add a degree of excitement by showing what the SUV is capable of.

Unlike most cars to be presented in the Swiss city, the X4 has taken the longer road and chose not to be transported to the event. Instead, it took to the road, and traveled using its own wheels, from Munich to Geneva, via Davos, a fairytale winter land where the World Economic Forum is being held.

While in Davos, the X4 made a pit stop for an impromptu photoshop, at 2,383 meters above sea level (7,818 feet) in the Flüela Pass. The point of the whole deal? Show what the xDrive all-wheel drive, standard on all models, can do.

The newest Sport Activity Coupe, as the Germans call it, is expected to have even more success than the previous version, which sold some 40,000 units per year in the five years it has been in production.

The engine range for the model is quite extensive, as it will be powered by choice of three petrol and three diesel units, with power ranging from 184 hp to 360 hp. Some of them will be designated as follows: xDrive20i, xDrive30i, xDrive20d, xDrive25d.

All engines will be controlled via an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, while motion will be sent to the wheels through the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive.

Fans of the M have not been forgotten either, and BMW will offer two M Performance versions, the X4 M40i and the BMW X4 M40d.

As for prices, the new X4 will sell in the United States starting at $50,450 for xDrive30i, while the M40i will retail for $60,450, without destination charge. Sales are expected to begin in July 2018.
