The Continental GT has enjoyed several major revisions, but the 2018 is the first all-new model. The platform is derived from Porsche's but Bentley's technology shines in this latest Nurburgring spy video.
Weight never held the Conti back from being a GT-sportscar, but the new Dynamic Ride technology takes it even closer to the limit of what the tires can do.
The aim of the device is to eliminate body roll when sporty driving is involved. Electric motors push the anti-roll bars on the outside wheel down and the inside wheel up. In combination, they make the new 2+2 coupe corner flatter than ever. Will it make you sick like the overcompensating Mercedes magic carpet? Probably not, since we've heard nothing bad about SQ7, which also uses roll-compensation systems.
Of course, the system will have an easier job due to the new Continental GT being much lighter than its predecessor. While some reports claim as many as 350 kgs will be shaved, we expect the true figure will be around half of that.
The styling is obviously inspired by the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept. Though with the debut scheduled for next month, it almost seems redundant to talk about it.
Other things that will be SUV-like on the Continental GT include the interior, which will borrow the steering wheel and shifter from the Bentayga, and the engine a W12 of familiar output.
Later on, a V8 model will also be launched, though no test prototypes have yet been seen. We expect that the 4.0-liter will be the one from the Panamera Turbo and upcoming Audi S4, not the carry-over mill from the outgoing model.
A 4.0 TDI model looks extremely unlikely, but a plug-in hybrid is on the agenda. This is rumored to use a V6 like the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, not the monster V8 version. But this is Bentley, and they rarely do things the reasonable way.
