The VW Golf 7 mid-life facelift is supposed to come out tomorrow. And not surprisingly, they've managed to leak a couple of shots online.
A slightly blurry frontal view of the 5-door German hatch presents a big change regarding color choice. Did you want a non-boring car? You've got it.

Bright liquid yellow is, of course, just a party trick to make the Golf facelift seem more exciting than it actually is. NOBODY will ever buy it in this color, at least not in Germany, which is by far the biggest market.

The shade kind of looks like something that was available on the Up! facelift. There's also a body kit on this particular model. Whether it's the R-Line is yet to be determined, but the swooping black trim is identical to what's on the Sharan R-Line.

There's also a photo of the back of the car that's even more puzzling because of some oversized but probably fake exhaust pipes. On the right of the trunk there's a little chrome badge, but we can't figure out what it is.

Our best guess would be that we are looking at the revival of the Golf GT. Several years ago, this was a really cool trim level that was often paired with Volkswagen's most innovative yet ill-fated engine, the twin-charged 1.4 TSI.

It had both a supercharger and a turbocharger and could produce 160 PS despite the relatively small size. Eventually, it got replaced by the single-turbo 1.4 and 1.8 TSI, but we know for sure that Vdub engineers have developed a 1.5 TSI with a variable geometry turbo. Ooooh, Porsche tech!

Thanks to the guys over at Ferd, we also have photos of other Golf models. For example, there a GTI facelift with a 3-door body, clearly proving that the rumor about its discontinuation was false.

The GTE plug-in hybrid and the Golf Variant or SportWagen are both there, but not the Alltrack facelift. Who cares, right? Anyway, all of them share this new headlight and taillight design, but the bumpers are different depending on the model.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
